STEEL HALO — Privacy & Analytics

This game operates lightweight first-party analytics for understanding website traffic and improving gameplay. It records daily aggregated page views, coarse device and browser categories, approximate country or broad region if supplied by our host, and total special-target destructions. It also records anonymous special-target appearances: whether a visible target was destroyed, missed without being hit, hit but escaped, taken by an AI hunter, or abandoned when a run ended. It also stores anonymous aggregate AI kill, fragment-claim and interception counters. The game sends a small, sampled trail of each target’s normalised position within the game screen and number of projectile hits. This helps measure target frequency and difficulty on phones and computers.

Anonymous traffic analytics do not retain your IP address, full user agent, persistent visitor ID, GPS location, or browsing history. We do not use advertising trackers. Statistics are counted as page loads, not unique people. Country may be shown as Unknown.

You can opt out at any time using the Anonymous Stats checkbox on the title screen. The opt-out preference is stored in your browser. Turning off stats stops future analytics events.

Optional private pilot intelligence: At the opening flight briefing you are offered a choice to agree to Private Pilot Stats or play without them. This is optional and OFF unless you actively agree. You can also change it in title-screen settings. When enabled, initials are associated with the special targets that appeared, their outcomes (destroyed by the player, taken by AI, hit, escaped or abandoned), numbers of hits and shots travelling near each target, encounter duration and limited normalised on-screen paths. These records are available to the password-protected site administrator, are not shown publicly and are deleted after approximately 90 days (detailed records are also capped to the most recent 5,000). Disable the option before starting another run to stop new initials-linked observations. There is no account verification: several players could share the same initials, and initials may identify a person in a small group. Automatic weapons can fire near targets incidentally, so "engaged" is only an estimate.

If you choose to submit a score, we save the callsign you enter, score, stage, date and numbers of each special target destroyed. These game leaderboard records are intentionally visible to other players. Avoid entering your real name if you prefer anonymity. Hosting providers may keep separate access/security logs under their own policies.

Anonymous daily analytics are automatically discarded after about 180 days. Detailed target trails are kept for up to 180 days, with a maximum of the latest 12,000 records; aggregated daily totals may cover a longer period than the detailed map. Leaderboard records are retained until the game owner removes them. For removal requests, contact the website operator.

We use first-party browser storage to remember game settings and your callsign. This page explains the collection; operating a public website may require an updated operator privacy notice and legal assessment.
